The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) recently proposed changes to the upcoming shotgun deer season. The IDNR plans to revise deer population objectives for more than 40 counties beginning with the 2014-15 deer season, following a two-year review of Illinois deer management efforts.
The IDNR was asking hunters to provide their opinions on the proposed changes via an online survey that was emailed out in February of this year. That survey is now closed. We at IBH encourage you to continue providing your opinions in the Forum thread created for this topic. Visit the “Illinois’ Hunting Laws” category of the Illinois Bowhunter Forum.
1. The IDNR has proposed to change the days during the first shotgun season from Friday – Sunday to Saturday – Monday.
2. The IDNR is also proposing to end the recent practice of selling remaining firearm deer permits over the counter through the end of the firearm season, except for youth under age 16.
